What is Solar hot water? Solar hot water refers to water heated by solar energy. Solar heating systems are generally composed of solar thermal collectors, a fluid system to move the heat from the collector to its point of usage, and a reservoir or tank for heat storage and subsequent use.

What other fees may be involved? Johannesburg is at a Latitude of 28 degrees to the earth surface and the tilt average between summer and winter solstice is 36 degrees. For a solar collector to have maximum exposure to the sun rays, it needs to face north and be at a 36 degree angle (Gauteng). Most houses face north and therefore most houses are ideally situated for the installation of the solar collector. However, in the unlikely event that the roof is not suitable for the collector installation, a custom engineered stand may be required. This will ensure that the collector is at a 36 degree angle and faces north. This angle differs depending on your latitude, for example in Cape Town it is 40 degrees. |
